headliner material
headliner material
hey guys,
I was wondering has anyone ever used anything besides the normal feltlike material for a headliner, my fiancee's car has a sort of plastic headliner. it doesn't look quite as nice but it's really durable. could I used a nylon or a vinyl, or is it easier just to use the felt.

Use the Felt, you can buy it at JoAnns Fabrics. If they have different brands look for the stretchiest you can find if you have T-tops. If you have a hard top, most any of it should work fine... The vynal is kind of streatchy, but it does not streth enough for a headliner ESPECIALLY if you have T-tops.
To get the old stuff off, once the headliner is removed, & the old material is off, take a wire brush & remove the excess foam left behind, make it really clean, then take some spray adhesive & stick the new stuff on...
3M makes a couple kinds, 77 & 90 come to mind they work pretty well. the 77 is designed to be moved & adjusted, but the 90 is more of a once you place it, thats all there is.
I personally like the headliner adhesive spray, it comes in a Gold can, and can sometimed acquired thru fabric or interior shops.
