What Can be Wrong with my Speedo?

I have an 87 Formula with a 140 speedo that doesn't work. Where should I look first? WHat are the usual suspects

Actaully, from what I understand, if you are not getting a signal to the ECM from the speed sensor in thetrans you will throw a check engine light code...

If you get a code, start at the trans & chase the wires & connections to make sure they are good.

No code, look into the speedo it might have gone bad.
