Another paint question
I was reading responses to Bluebird's question about paint cost. Is it really true that a good quality paint job will cost 6 - 8 thousand bucks. I paid about that for the whole car when I bought it 12 years ago. Most body shops around here quote a price of about 1500 - 2000 but then again it would probably be about as sorry as the paint job I got a few years ago for 1500. It never was done right I took it back numerous times they never got it right paint had cracked & it has that crinkly orange peel look to it. I'm about at the end of my rope trying to find a good shop to paint my car Are collision shops better than regular body shops? Can you get a good paint job for less than 6-8 k ?

The biggest factor really in the price of a paint job is the amount of body work the car needs. My Camaro is in the shop right now for a paint job. The price of the paint job is technically $800, but its costing me almost 4 grand cuz of all the body work. 6 to 8 grand seems very steep, unless of course you want a show car.

I just got my car back from the shop last night, and it looks kick a$$, and it cost me roughly 2500. I am very pleased with the results. I would think that 6 to 8 grand would be for a car that never saw the road, and was always inside. That would be alot of money just to have a rock fly up and take a chunk out.
