how to stop peeling clearcoat

I just bought a 1990 IROC-Z today, the car is in GREAT shape considering its age and mileage (142k) about the only cosmetic issue with it is that the clear coat is beginning to peel off on the drivers side rear fender where it meets the hatch.
I dont have the cash right now to have it repainted, so I was wondering if there was anything I could to just stop the peeling from spreading.

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunatly, no. There is nothing that you can do.

very lightly wet color sand with the finest grit sandpaper you can get (just to blend and feather the affected area). Then buy a $5 spray can of clear coat from the auto parts store. Mask off car and apply a light coat of clear evenly. Let dry for 1 day. Then buff it out. I repaired my peeling paint job (the original paint) that way. It looked pretty decent! A few months ago I had the dough to completely strip and repaint the car. So I took it to the body shop. It's been at the body shop for a couple months, I should get it back in a week or two.
