Hi Guys,

New to this part of the board. I usually hit just the TBI board. But now I'm ventruing into uncharted waters I think. I have two late 80's model Caprices and I;m thinking about swapping the dash from a 3rdgen into one and I have several questions regarding the dashes.

First off I need some measurements if possible. Overall width and the height from the steering column to the top of the dash.

Second - which years of 3rdgens came with a cable driven speedo and which were run by a VSS?

That should do to get me started!!

82-89 camaros were cable driven, 90-92 were vss

The mechanical speedos have a "mechanical" VSS mounted behind the speedometer and attached to the speedometer cable. The raw signal goes through a buffer which is then distributed to the ECM and cruise control.
