This is out of the mouths of some professional glass installers that installed my Firebird windshield.(99.9% of all windshields that are removed end up broke)I myself would not recommend doing it,better leave it to the pros and even if they remove it,I would say that it might not be in one piece.

No, I'm not just bored. By the way, what does LMAO (is that right?) mean? A guy by me has the same exact car as me, same year, engine, etc. . .but his has T-tops. But! His doesn't have a title. See what I'm getting at.. . .? I'm just asking for info, probably what end up actually doing it though. Thanks. ABout how much would It cost to have that done by a professional?

Ok, I want t-tops. My car doesn't have t-tops. His car does, BUT, no title. My car has a clean title. See? In order to get the vin number out you need to take off the windshield.

Dude, thanks a lot. Or, does anyone know how to take off the VIN withOUT removing the windshield? It's the same year, make, engine, model, even color (small world huh?) of the one I have now. Just wondering how hard it would be.

Yes LMAO means Laughing My *** Off. I was caught by what you said. I just started laughing as you never stated as to a reason why you were wanting to R&R(remove&reinstall) your windshield. Seemed as if you were just wanting to do it to see if you could. It also reminded me of when I was a kid I use to tear all my toys apart that I'd get for Christmas just to see how they work. I don't know how many whippings and groundings I got. But now I'm the first one they call when they have any kind of problem. Ironic ain't it. Anyway I wasn't making fun of you but what you said. I do agree with the guys above about doing this job yourself. I had a new windshield put in my car and it came to $190.00 with installation. Mine was covered by my Insurance Co. Good Luck.

LOL, So let me get this right..you're going to illegally swap vin tags just so you can have t-tops? that's sounds pretty desperate. I'm not flaming you, for i've had ideas like that too.

Aren't there a bunch of other places that the vin is located and stamped into, like every body part? something like that?

Depends on the year, some years like 87 seem to have a decal on the fenders, doors, hatch, hood, bumpers (the steel part) quarters, Engine.

There is alos a stamped plate somewherer on the front core suport if I remember right.

See if the guy could apply for a lost title, and then get it from him that way, tell him that you will pay for the lost title charge. Then if he wants to sell you the car or whatever.

Better legal than in jail.

Nope, can't get the title. He stopped making payments in 94 and the bank never came to pick it up. Trust me, I've tried to get a title for this thing. I've also tried calling the bank but it's out of business. I've tried everything.

If it's a mechanic's lien or a possesory lien, you have to own a company or something like that.

tp get the glass off, poke a wire coat hanger through the seal somewhere along the line, so it's both inside and outside... then run thin strong steel wire through the hole. Wrap it around a piece of wood on the inside and out, and pull it around the windshield to cut the seal (THink like a garret wire setup)
Do it slow so as not to break the glss, and have a few people help take it off.
As far as putting it back on goes.... your on your own..

I have to do the same to my car. It was in an accident and the windshield was put in to low and so I have to take it out.
All you need to do is take a stiff wire and make a hole and then feed a guitar string through the hole. Wrap both ends around a screw driver or vise grips and get someone on the inside of the car to help. Begin sawing and soon you will be through. JUST DO NOT LAY THE WINDSHIELD DOWN. your chancesof it breaking will increase. stand it up on a blanket and let it rest against a wall. dont let anyone or anything near it and you will be fine.
