I like the white leather. Did you sell it? Looks like she cleaned up nicely with fresh paint and interior.

Re: 1989 GTA Quick Flip

Here are a few mor shots of the car, but i'm still trying to decide if i should buy. I know i cant pay much especially if the rust is worst than it appears. so at this point, since its sunday and the shop is closed i had to wait till monday to see how much their asking... i also wanted to check the VIN to make sure it was a real GTA. and as i was leaving i noticed it had the WS-6 emblems on the wheels. that made me more excited.

Re: 1989 GTA Quick Flip

So now its Monday and i called the shop. and it appears that the person selling the car, was not the actually the owner and he was in fact selling the car for a lon time friend, that had passed away. he told me that the wife was seeking 2k for the car. and also the usual spill "i got a few intrested people looking to buy the car" since this was my first time seeing the car i didnot know how long it was sitting there, but after my research of the VIN and the person selling the car verified it in fact was a WS6 GTA i was off to get that money!!! once i got there he told me that the battery was dead. and after a jump box the car still would not start. but with a shot of carb cleaner she fired up but wouldwnt stay running. but i was able to here the engine. sounds strong!!!!! now i need a closer look...

Re: 1989 GTA Quick Flip

So i ask the seller, if i could have a look under the car. he raised the car and to my disbelief the under side of the car had little to no rust. the floor pans were untouched. so i asked if he had any idea of how the car on top, could be of rust. and not the undercarrage. he said that the car was for years sitting under a tree but on a concrete slab. and after the fender bender the owner stopped driving the car and that the car had 50ish k miles on it. he knew because he had done all the work on the car after the 30k mile warrenty was thru. plus the owner owned a HVAC company and had several cars. so i asked if he would take 1900.00 for the car since i did not factor in a tow. he called the wife of the owner and she agreed.... now after the money exchange hands i look at the title and it states 175k. now im raising my eyebrow. he stated he had even overlooked that and called the wife again and after a lot of back and fourth. we find out that when she took over the estate she got the milage mixed up on the car with another car and put 175k on the application for title. DAMN.... but you know what after all its still a GTA with 5.7 and all the bells and whistles, even has the same seats as the turbo trans am.. i still want it .so we got it

Re: 1989 GTA Quick Flip

now i knew the car was a good find but... i did not know what i really had on the way home the tow truck driver was stopped several time and asked if he was selling the car. we had to pull into the gas station, to get gas. and as i was comming out store, i see the tow truck driver wave for me to come to him. it seam a guy followed the truck into the station and was checking out the car. he liked how the car didnot have all the usual rust under the bottom and wanted to buy it. the guy offered me 5k as the car sit. man i gotta say i almost did it but i had already made my mind up on what i wanted to do with the car. so i declined.

Re: 1989 GTA Quick Flip

So at this point my buddies hear and started ragging that i already have a uncompleted build.. "Operation Major Surgery" that build is also on this fourm also. but the reason i stopped is because i could not find anyone here that could find the problem with getting the 5volts to the 9th injector. so i kinda lost interest. so i put it on hold. but i promised i would finish it i love that car. and plus the fact that also at this point i was looking to buy a 1992 300zx twin turbo. running rough... but running for 800.00 so i had to have it also.. i knew that too was worth a couple coins if fixed up. here is a pix of both at my friends storage yard... i know i should finish one at a time...

but back to the GTA...

Re: 1989 GTA Quick Flip

so at this point i need to get this car running that will require the following:
Spark plugs & Wires
distributor cap and button
fuel pump & sending Unit
fuel filter
All fluid change
02 sensors
and injectors
pcv valve
airfilter
throttle body and mass air clean
now the motor sounds perfect
BUT.............

Re: 1989 GTA Quick Flip

so while hunting parts i thought it would be a good idea to remove the interior and send it to have body work started.

also i find 2 fenders from Crazy Rays in mt Airy md. $30.00 for the pair

i also removed the seats and took to St Charles upholstery in charles county md... Brad was cool. definantly worth the money. i decided to get the seats done in vinyl insted of leather for now i will switch later to leather

I'm so confused at this thread... It's like one of those movies that starts at the the jumps around and intermixed 3 or 4 plots.

WTF is with the 280 ZX on the roll back?

When did we move to a 300 ZX?

I thought the GTA was done? Is this just a flash back???

Re: 1989 GTA Quick Flip

Hey jr... Question...
Were you one of those kids that in reading class did not want to read, And only try to figure out the story by looking at pictures? Lol. I was only pointing out that I have found another deal, And wanted to point out how my boys rag on me for not finishing one and buying another project. Asfor the 280 the picture has something to do with this story because I bought that car too while building this car.

Btw As everyone can see this call was already finished And sold. I was just sharing the build experience with you guys for this car.

The 300zx is being built right now and I will put that small bit of information of where to find that build at the End of this thread.

Be cool jr. Some of us love all cars

Don't get do defensive and be so quick to call names or make judgement. I read every one of your out of order and mumbo jumbo posts. Even looked through every one of you pictures on the link.

I get it. You already finished the GTA (as shown in the pictures), got a couple others, and doing some sort of flashback/explanation of the build thread. I get it.

sorry Jr. maybe i misunderstood how you posted your origional question. i didnt see such a problem posting a "already completed" build. i see that some people like to post current updated on a "in progress build". I tried to post the build as it happened. but that way didnt work for me. i took pix at diffrernt stages of the build, the same as anyone else and made notes also so i didnt forget. the only difference is i posted all at once.. if that bothers you i apoligize.. i love 3rd gens and i can see you too. and being that you had a c6 we probably have the same taste
so lets be friends....
