using fiberglass cloth in the spare tire well?
Hey guys. I'm getting around to doing some body work and one of the issues with rust my car has and honestly the only spot is that the spare tire area, at the bottom of the arch has fallen through. Well can I use the fiberglass cloth and resin to did that?

Don't think I would do that..it can still collect moisture from underneath..get some sheet metal and seam sealer..seal up both sides real good and paint it..or go through the task of cutting and welding it in.. But for that area that no one sees anyway..I would just do the seam sealer..

Not a good idea, it will crack later on and you will be back to where you started. Your best bet is to weld in new metal but if you do not want to do that you can use 3m panel bond to put new metal in. Can you post a picture of the damage, we can help you better if we get an idea of how bad the rust is.

You can use fiberglass cloth, but don't use PE resin, use POR 15.
Strip all the paint ant rust from surrounding metal. Paint on POR 15, inside and out. Lay in cloth, at least 6oz , wet out cloth with POR 15, do second layer when almost cured (follow directions). This is the ideal type of repair for por15 and fiberglass.
