Replacing lower Door Skin.

Hi,

When replacing the lower door skin. Would it be better to apply seam sealer sealer to each side of the door bottom before placing the door skin over it and using hammer and dolly. Was thinking of doing this and once door skin was on just smooth the seam sealer but am worried that it will take me too long to put on door skin and seam sealer will have hardened before I am finished. Just wondering what the procedure is or what other people do.

Thanks.

Re: Replacing lower Door Skin.

I saw a thread the other day where someone had used 3M seam sealer and it hadn't cured for about 3 weeks. I think you're safe on the time factor. The mess it would make might be another story.

Yes, Guess it would end up pretty messy alright. Will have to think about it.

Thanks.

If you think that may be a problem then you could install the panel then just seam seal around the edges

Re: Replacing lower Door Skin.

Use 3M Panel Bond, It sticks to bare metal, corrosion resistant, and a long work time. That is what body shops use when replacing panels.
