Re: Online purchase nightmare

new door locks are cheap and easy to do, probably doing ya a favor. They get tore up like that after time as these like to freeze in the winter and people horse it open, ripped the door handle off right side once trying to get in my car, busted rear hatch motor too.... autozone

Re: Online purchase nightmare

No that wasn't all that was wrong. I guess its not that big of a deal to people, but I like to be told everything about the car prior to purchase or at least show me in photos what is wrong so I can be prepared. I was not prepared for that and he left out other issues that he could have disclosed that would have effected the sale. Where I live, you are not allowed to work on your car outside at all so I can't fix things that I could fix on my own. I have to pay someone. So if that wouldn't bother some it bothers me because he was not truly honest. I did not get off easy in my book.

Re: delete

I wasn't a jab or anything.

but you rather have beat up locks that worked? [ they probably did but got to the point where you have to know the special way to jiggle it just right to make it work, my hatch is like that, half the time it wont open for me. ]

why I said he did ya a favor, youll spend $20 and have nice new locks, with out using old sloppy keys.

Your car will be better in the end, I wouldn't sweat that.

Now first thing, gut the entire interior, front to very back, down to steel floor, so much can be hidden that you cannot see under the car.

That jute padding holds moisture and will rust it inside out, while under the car looks ok.

inspect the 999 cheesy spot welds they did when factory buit. That whats hold your car together in the middle.

[ I welded my interior, then added these, http://www.jegs.com/i/Alston-Race-Ca...ductId=2388413 ]

Rent a storage locker, find friends with a drive way or garage, help them out, so they help you out. Id never live where I could be told what I can and can't do. More so you should be ready for that or to spend lots paying someone to do those things if your going to own a 30+ yr old car. Always gonna take time or money to keep it going.

Roll up your sleves and get dirty or grab your ankles at the mechanics.

Re: delete

I see that it wasn't a jab but what I'm saying is that I am familiar with old locks that take jiggling. I need to upload a set of pictures to show you the extent of the damage. There is no place to put a key at all. You can try to insert the key but there is NO cylinder to put the key into. Sometimes with old cars the cylinder gets off from the key hole. This is not that. The internal lock is destroyed. All you see when you look into they key hole is a blocked off entrance. I've had people look at it. If I can upload a pic you'll see what I'm saying. The locks appear to look like someone tried to gain forceful entry into the car to steal it. Because why would it be both locks? It would only be one lock you need to work to get in. The trunk key, the only way in is now broken. This I believe is from overuse as a replacement entry lock. I wasn't told that I couldn't enter the car under normal means. That should be a given unless the seller tells you other wise. Maybe it isn't a big deal to others but I need you to tell me everything when I buy a car. So now there's an investigation. And the title arrived in a fishy way. Anyway I await the decision and will probably unload the car.

And I wasn't implying that when you buy a car you shouldn't get what you pay for or that sellers shouldn't be honest about a cars problems. My point was that if you buy a car over the web without actually seeing it and hand over money without the title in front of you, it leaves you wide open to get screwed. Given that opportunity , most people today will screw you. So many stories like this to warn you that money should not change hands until you know for sure what you are getting.

Re: delete

Which is why I said it was a nightmare. Well they are investigating a misrepresentation sale. So I will await the decision. The guy may even want it back. I did everything right here this guy just did'nt disclose everything. You can't always find what you want nearby and sometimes you have to go online, however I'm done there. This car has been trouble and I dont want it anymore, after all he lied about this, the title came after the car because he claimed he couldnt find my address until the day the shippers showed up. Even then he did'nt just email me and say I can't find your address I'll put it in the glove box. The car left his house while he still had the title. That makes no sense. I don't care anymore, I just want to see what the verdict is and get rid of it. You cant work on your car where I live. This to me isnt worth it anymore and once they finish, either he takes it,they take it or I junk it. Either way I'm done.

Re: delete

Its okay now, I'm not nearly as mad. I'm going to fix one thing at a time, and at least now I can get into the car. Its just time to figure what to do first?
