ttop interchangeability
i have a 91 transam with lexan roofs
picked up a set of glass ones supposedly from an 87 gta
should they fit as they dont
they are too short front to back by an inch each end

There are two main types/sizes of T-Tops for our cars, factory and C&C.
The factory ones are all the same size BUT there are some differences in the latch (early ones had a hook, later had a pin--and there may be two different pin sizes). Year to year AFAIK they should all fit but the latch part on the body will need to be changed if the latch changes.
The C&C were an aftermarket conversion and they are a different size than the factory T-Tops. If memory serves me correct they were smaller. Totally not interchangeable with factory.

The tops that you picked up might be aftermarket like C&C tops. My stepson has a 91 Z28 that had the lexan tops and they were shot, so we picked up a glass set. The glass set went on with o problems.
