Door Hinge Bushing and Pin replacement

I am in the process of replacing my 87 GTA rusted passenger door with a door from an 86 Firebird. I got the old hinges off, sanded, sealed, primered and painted. I ordered a set of the Dorman replacements from the local mega auto store (Oreilly's) and it appears the sizes are incorrect. I did verify online that this is the set that comes up for the door on an 87 but wondering if it is different for and 86 Firebird?

Here is a link to the part I ordered:
http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...or+hinge+parts

Any help is greatly appreciated

EDIT: Oreilly shows same part for an 86 but it is clearly too large for the lower bushing

Re: Door Hinge Bushing and Pin replacement

All 82 - 92 door hinges are the same, birds and maros. Are the bushings too small? Extremely worn hinges sometimes are wallowed out from leaving them go for a long time.

Re: Door Hinge Bushing and Pin replacement

actually the bushings are too big, the uppers look like they might press in but the lowers are way too big, would have to drill the hinge and then the amount of metal left would be sketchy at best.

They are splined for a press fit, but you shouldn't have to drill for them. May be the wrong bushings. They do sell them in the help section at any parts store. No consolation on your problem though.

Re: Door Hinge Bushing and Pin replacement

yea i think the one with the pins is ok, just need to press it in, which I can do, the one with the smaller shoulder bolt I don't see how, I'll try to get a pic of it

Re: Door Hinge Bushing and Pin replacement

i did do a search first and found TDS used to sell these parts, however when I check TDS website today those parts apparently are no longer available?

I agree with you on TDS, if I can get it there from him I go there first...

Maybe you misspoke or I am misunderstanding you here. The pin goes on the lower hinge. The two bolts go on the upper.

Re: Door Hinge Bushing and Pin replacement

i feel like such an azzhat

so in the end the bushings worked!

I was trying to put the bushings in the correct location, but backwards, so I was trying to install them in the hinges on the that I took off, the bottom ones install in the hinge I took off and the bigger ones install in the door upper with the shoulder bolts. it is all together and lubed up so all good, now to transfer the door parts from the rusty door.

Thanks everyone for the replies!
