Anyone know what this insulation is called?

What is the little piece of rubber insulation on the top of the tail light called? Its on the slanted part of the tail light between the light and the body. About 6 inches long? I had to replace a tail light, and it didn't come with that piece, and I tried looking up tail light insulation, and I cannot find anything. Does anyone know what this is, and where i can find a replacement???

I assume you are talking about the gasket that goes along the side edge of each light? I think you are just going to have to find another set of lights that has them. I really don't think any one makes them. I don't think they are really important either. Mine wouldn't really stay on anymore so I just took them off.

Pick and pull would be your best bet I think, unless you can find them on ebay or the classified boards.

Re: Anyone know what this insulation is called?

ok, gasket does make sense. But you are right, no one makes them! I actually DID get this from a pick-n-pull, without realizing that it didn't have the rubber part. And i can't leave it off, it leaves a 1/2 " gap between the light and the body that is very visible, and probably lets in exhaust gas/water, etc. Someone hit my car and broke the drives side taillight, and so replaced it without the gasket, and then saw the gap. (sigh) I've seen a bunch advertised on ebay, but they invariably DONT have the gasket, lol. I notice it says to use caulk in that diagram (thanks for that!) but i am not sure i could build it up enough to look right. So if anyone should run across an acceptable substitute......

What about the piece off the broken TL.No exhaust/water wil get inside.Water would just run down the back of the tail & to the ground.Id use RTV over caulk.
