I want to paint my 88' Formula, it's light blue that reminds me of the 68' 69' Marina blue for Chevies. Before I buy paint I want to make sure it's the same as the original. Where is the paint code info on this car? Was told on the underside of the hatch but it's not original. Any ideas?

 

I don't know Firebirds as well, but I'm thinking inside of the center console at the bottom of the RPO sticker. Sometimes they can be found on the inside of the drivers door as well.

 

Was there a variety of light blue paints used on 88' Formulas?

RPO code list on center console lid. Bottom center of RPO sticker.. It will say something like WA-L----- U----
The numbers after the L and U will be your paint code.

For 1988 firebird I have info that shows just 1 blue and then other sources shows 2 diff. blues for the '88
Medium Maui Blue Metallic WA #9184 code 19 is the one listed in most sources as the only blue.
Bright Blue Metallic WA #8751 code 23 shows up in a few places as an option as well but I'm not sure on that one

RPO code list have 81U; Exterior color, primary, Bright red ( 81U ).

At the bottom of the RPO sticker:
BCCC WA-L8774 U8774 82C

Is the original paint code 8774 which I have to looking for?

Ten years ago I bought color 8774/81 but it`s hue was wrong ( PPG DELTRON DG, GM ( AMERICA ) BRIGHT RED )

Your color code 81U,is Bright Red,if your SPID has L8774-U8774 then your car is Bright Red.The L means Lower and the U means Upper.
