rust repair welding in support braces

Hey guys i want to replace two parts of my floor. The driver side rear. And pass side very front. I want to weld in sum type of support because i have a 88 vert. I do not want any flexing going on while i make the repair. Can you guys let me know exactly what im supposed to be supporting. Where to weld the metal in? Also what metal to use? an where can i buy it from? Thanks a lot

Re: rust repair welding in support braces

Could you take some pictures of the exact parts that you will be replacing? Depending on if it's over the torque boxes, will determine if a brace is really needed. I did a full floor repair on my t-top car and didn't use a brace at all. Car didn't really sag/flex at all while the floors were out, all that was holding the two halfs together were the rocker panels pretty much.

But if I were to brace the car, I'd run some square tubing from where the hump in the back is near the strut towers to the firewall.

I think you could get away without welding in any braces and keeping the car straight if you don't have both doors open at the same time. I'd get two 10 ft pieces of square tubing though. I'm about 6ft and when I layed down on my car's floor, I didn't reach the back when my feet were a few inches from the fire wall.
