body work and prep

hey guys,
I've been working on removing rust from my roof, it came out great, nice and smooth. but what I did just so it would not rust again is primed painted and clearcoated it. it looks bad cause I was in a rush. I know if I just use primer it will rust again, my question is can I just clearcoat primer just to seal it for now. or do I have to use paint to seal it up. it will be like this for about a year or so. thanks

yes, you need to sand it, then shoot on primer. You may have to sand inbetween layers of primer, if it's going to sit for a year use atleast 4 coats of primer. Follow the instructions on the primer you buy and see if it requires you to sand between coats. Some high-end paints/primers only require sanding between every 4 coats.

Unfortunantly that primer you buy in cans is crap. I would put several coats on and then wet sand it very lightly. Then you should clearcloat with a few light coats. Good luck.
