Painting plastics question...

So I'm in the sanding stage on my paint project and have removed all GFX and front and rear bumper covers. As I started sanding I realized I have to go all the way down to bare plastic on the front spoiler and bumpers to get rid of the cracks in the old paint.

I would assume I need to add a flex agent to my primer and base but should that plastic be painted or treated with anything else before primer? I noticed there were a lot of layers of primer or paint under the base coat on the front spoiler.

Thanks

I'm more or less in the same stages right now. From what I have read, modern paints shouldn't require a flex agent, and adding it only helps for about 6 months.

I've also seen some people swear by using Bulldog adhesion promoter, and others that downright hate it. It certainly doesn't seem very clear-cut.

I'm mostly concerned with reassembly. The front spoiler and rear bumper cover in particular are very flimsy or "bendy" if that's a word..

If you're concerned, add a flex agent. It's not very expensive in the grand scheme of things. I've heard good things about both SEM and Bulldog if you're using urethane.

Only piece you could really argue for flex additive is the chin spoiler. The thing is a noodle when not mounted. The bumpers are fine as long as you use caution when handling them. As a side, my chin spoiler without flex additive after I sprayed primer bent 90* when the paint cracked.

Strip it all the way down then you will need a plastic cleaner not a wax and grease remover this will only make things worse then you will need a adhesion promoter like bulldog then i would use flex additive for assembly
