Having problems installing new T Top seals really could use some advice

So I bought some Metro T top seals and I was putting them in without sealant just to see how to do it before there is weatherstripping sealant all over them and saw a problem the seal that goes into the T top divider bar is sticking above the divider bar by about a 1/4 to a 1/2 of a inch. I tried to get my T tops to slide under the divider bar and pretty much can't get them to go. After about 10 min I finally got it but it just seems way to stiff. Is this normal?

I double check and all the seals are in the grooves properly so I know it's not that.

The T-Top bar has 2 grooves that hold the T-Top seal in place. IIRC; the factory applied adhesive to just the "inside" groove. ( closest to the center bar ). BE SURE that ALL of the old adhesive is removed from the T-Top bar !! I've re-sealed a couple T-Top cars and have found that the original sealer in those inner grooves is not easy to completely remove. If there is ANY crap left in the grooves,....... the new seal will not fit and will bulge.

Also remember; your dealing with new seals here and you've got to expect them to be a lot "firmer" than the originals. For example: whenever I install new door seals the doors ( that used to close with ease ) usually have a bit of a problem closing for awhile until the new seals "set-up" to their new home after being installed. Seems like the seals might be wrong because it takes extra effort to close the doors, but in fact they are simply not as "squished" as the 25+ year old seals that used to be there. I've only installed new T-top seals once ( GM ) and they also made the T-tops fit REAL tight for awhile.

Again; Just BE VERY SURE that ALL of the original sealer is removed from the t-top bar grooves. Once your SURE that it's as clean as possible all you can do is to ensure that the new seal is properly installed in both grooves & you'll have to accept where-ever the new seal sits after that.

P.S. I can't tell from your pic,.... but remember to cover over those T-Bar mounting screws that are "hidden" under the seals with some type of sealer !!
