Maryland tag law

I live in Maryland. I have a 92 firebird. I was wondering if anyone knew if it was required to have a front tag on the car. I did read that if the car came without a mount for a tag you do not have to have it on. But it must be in the car. Im not sure if that is true or not. Anyone know??

Re: Maryland tag law

here is what the Maryland DMV website says about it "Most vehicles must display tags on both the front and back, while others only need a rear plate. The MVA will issue the correct number of tags for your vehicle when you apply." Not sure what the requirements are for not requiring it.

Im located in the same area(baltimore) as you and i have an 84 Camaro, from what i have acquired if you do not have a tag bracket it must be somewhere else that it can be seen(dash, etc.)

Re: Maryland tag law

I bought a Formula in PA, which had no tag bracket up front. My solution was to buy a tag bracket that bolted in from the bottom- so no holes are made in the front of the bumper. Or, if you have some spare plate aluminum, you can do something like this...
(which I may do later)

Re: Maryland tag law

It IS mandatory in MD, I've been pulled over- even when displaying tag in the windshield.
