z28 head light pockets

I have a 92 Z28 in purple haze metallic. Some loser recently back into the bumper cover and damaged the paint only. I have an excellent paint repair person, my question is the head light pockets are painted in flat black. Is there a reason for the flat vs a gloss? And has anyone ever painted them in gloss?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Re: z28 head light pockets

Well I took a chance and had my head light pockets painted gloss black. I just drove the car at night and everything seems great. I think it looks a lot better in gloss than satin.

Glare reduction was mostly for oncoming traffic. So you should be ok.

Re: z28 head light pockets

And what about the glare from all the RS models that have been painted in gloss?

Re: z28 head light pockets

it was done to make the Z28 stand out..just like the grill and running lights.and the hood. tail.

they came from GM in a satin black. simi gloss is not the right finish.
and flat black is to dull..

its a pain has water stains can stand out if let dry on it...
