Body rust

So I just bought a 1986 camaro with some rust. OK quite a bit of rust. My main concern is the roof right above the door and along side the windshield it's rusted all the way through the top layer of metal but not the second. It doesn't leak but I want to fix it before it starts to. I've had people tell to use bondo but then people told me bondo won't work. I guess what I'm trying to get at is what is the best way to repair it??

Re: Body rust

The best way, find a non rusty shell and start with that.

Another is to buy a welder and some metal and learn to fix it.
