Yes. The darker the color, the more the film will heat up, and thereby heat up the glass of the headlight. It will also significantly reduce the amount of light that gets to the road.

You can always coat you headlights with a spray but you will lose a lot of functionality. I would think the film would be hard to keep on due to the amount of heat the lights put off.

i have clear headlight covers..you could go that route then lay film on those from the inside...
