Cracked acrylic t-too repair info requested.

I have a 1989 IROC-Z with acrylic t-tops and one is cracked all the way through. I plan on replacing both eventually but, I've been doing a lot of tune up work and am growing light on funds (3 week owner). I've been searching online but, no one has had any suitable advice. The best I found was Dremmell *spelling* some holes and use screws to hold and fill with epoxy and paint it. I don't own a Dremmell nor do I trust myself with one and I like my skylights. If any one was able to fix a similar issue please let me know. Thanks to those who reply!

Get a glass set and be done with it. Or prowl Ebay with a vengeance and try to find a better set.

Funny, my dad just emailed me a used glass set for $400. Glass is superior to acrylic?

In the sense of aging, sure. They're heavier, not tinted as dark, and in my opinion they don't seal as well or as quietly. But they're easier to care for.

Why bother trying to fix cracked/checked lexamar tops.
Used replacements can be found for $100+ a set.
Some years the lexamar tops can be swapped out for glass.

I vote for glass too. The plastic are nice for weight, but they are noisy (pass through), and do not age gracefully.

There are t-top variations over the years, so read up on there here at TGO. But as an example:

Thanks for all of the replies! It seems to be unanimous that glass is the way to go. As a 3 week owner I'll slate it for replacement next spring or I suppose it would make a good Xmas present from mom n pop. (No way I'd get that lucky)
