5/16 hood bolts
So my fiberglass hood is tapped for 5/16 bolts. The holes in the hinges are only 6mm which is basically 1/4".
I think 5/16" is too big even for a helicoil. Any suggestions other than trying to bore the slots in the hinges larger?

Re: 5/16 hood bolts
Mine also...open up the holes.. (Glastek hood)
I had to open up mine. and slot them. to get the hood on the way I wanted..
the pic below shows them (the holes) then chromed after fitting...(just below this..you can see the holes open/sloted)

the fit was 100% to my liking after opening & slotting..

Re: 5/16 hood bolts
Fabricate adapter studs - 5/16" hood thread on one end, and 1/4" or 6 mm on the other. You might even be able to buy them.
Similar to this: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/r...yABEgJ9J_D_BwE
and this: https://www.newport.com/f/thread-adaptors
M8 to M6 is easy to find. The threads in your hood might be 5/16, but M8 might be close enough to thread in.
