notch back glass and seal/gasket

i got a no brand notchback a few years back and the glass ( in this case, plexiglass) i was attached via several spring loaded brackets.. but want to replace it with real glass and gaskets .. it was a pretty crappy silicon caulk job lol
.. any ideas will be greatly appreciated. was thinking i using a pinch gasket but didn’t know what was available .. also does anyone recognize who made this ?

I don't think that a pinch gasket would seal very well. I would use urethane, like on the front windshield, permanant and no leaks if done properly. Caulk is never the right product for this application

Re: notch back glass and seal/gasket

thanks for replying
there is no indention or lip to lay the glass into like on a windshield .. so either i would have to dremmel a lip into the existing frame or use urethane directly over the window on the frame but that would cause there to protrude out.. i make film props so i am comfortable lining out and using a dremmel to craft that .. just was hoping to find the proper way it was supposed to be ..

Re: notch back glass and seal/gasket

The purpose of the urethane is to fill a gap and bond to the substrate, so it doesn't matter if there is a channel for the windshield to sit in. Once it is glued in no one will know how it is there from the outside. I believe it is that way on the factory notchback, the rear window is just glued in, and then has clips to "hold it" in place. Mine is a mess and I will have to make a few repairs.
Since there is that channel at the bottom of the window area, I would just put a small mount in there, and then an even bead around the raised window support area and keep it flat while it cures, then put the clips back on and be done with it. Cutting the fiberglass is going to make an already weak item, weaker

Re: notch back glass and seal/gasket

Would something like one of these work? Glass in one channel, body edge in the other?
