One day I did it, and it looked cool.. but if the bulbs were on, it looked like crap IMO (red bulbs of course) youd need something to diffuse the red light in order for it to look right. Ive kinda got an idea how to do it, but I really dont know if want to or not.

Well, I got bored, and was thinking about it.. opened up Photoshop and went to work.. This is basically what the car looked like when I pulled the red diffusers out, and when you put on the brakes, there were just 4 red lights shining through.. didnt really look that good.

IMO you will need something to diffuse the light, much like what the put across the spot for the reverse lights in the tail lights..

Yuck, yuck, yuck. The idea of those on a 'bird is just as bad as the idea of them on a Camaro.

Then again, maybe it is just those silver gfx on that pretty blue car

Actually, I was browsing the new Jegs catalog I got a couple days ago and noticed them. I think they might work actually. Not sure which way would be cheaper either.

Oh, and Lance....

I actually wrote a tech article on how to do it, but didnt send it in since they arent finished. Get ahold of me thru AIM or MSN, and I'll give you some tips.

No disrespect to whoever did that job on the Formy, but, I dont think that really represents how they look at all. Its actually quite subtle, which is what I personally like about it. Im still not sure if I will run them once I get it totally done. I just like doing that sort of stuff to see how it looks

Oh, and Lance maybe I'll paint the 82 that color.

if you must know my honest opinion.............that looks pretty good..............

maybe we can start a f-body trend, stock looking tailights but clear instead?????

damn, i am a hypocrit

i have mixed feelings about these things

cuz i mean, some 4th gens have clear rear lights and they make them for mustangs and corvettes now.......................

Yes, I must admit, the frown/confused look was my first reaction too. But, oh well. I think ill order those diffusers from Jegs tonight, and then if I like them when im done, Ill run with em. :shrugs:

Don't hate me for asking this but has anyone ever tried to customize a firebird to have supra tail lights? I've seen them on Chevy trucks, so why not try on the firebird. anyone with photoshop might wannna try this out.

as a die hard mini trucker ('00 S-10, boddy dropped, bagged, completely shaved and sittin on 18's) i have to reply to this. alot of trucks have tailights from other vehicles grafted onto them. i am using 98 caddy tailights on mine. this is a rather simple mod on a truck b/c the whole @$$ end on it is steel. it is much easier to cut and weld in filler panels on a flat piece of steel. the rears of our thirdgens are majority plastic and shaping and mounting filler panels for your factory lights would seem near impossible. not saying that it cant be done, but it would be a very involved and daunting task.

me personally, i would love to see it done, but i am not ready to start experimenting on my beloved T/A.

peace,
menace
