Crunched fender: DIY, body shop, or junkyard fender?
Hi there slowly working at restoring glory to my old 92 RS V6 and I have this old fender crunch to deal with (photos below). Happened in Angeles Crest 10 years ago when a road-side reflector post stopped me and my significant other from sliding down the side of a cliff true story.
I dont have much much body experience but Im pretty handy and looking for advice. The damage is about 15 tall by 12 at the widest and about 2 deep do I:
A) hammer this out myself?
B) look for a fender at a junkyard and replace?
C) give up and take her to a body shop?
A key component here is the cost of each I dont have that right now but Ill report back in when I do. Thanks in advance!
Re: Crunched fender: DIY, body shop, or junkyard fender?
Installing a new fender is not rocket science.
Gettting the paint to look right after installing a new fender is the question. What kind of experience do you have painting car parts? Do you have a suitable place to paint car parts?
If a body shop is going to have to paint it for you, I'd let them install the fender too.
If you have to do it on the cheap, get a junkyard fender, and rattle can the fender in the parking lot, and then install the fender on your car.
