Body side molding placement

I am at a finishing stage (will update my build thread soon) and I am trying to understand where should the side moldings be installed. Some pictures suggest that they should be in the middle of the body line but then does that mean that the adhesive tape holding them has to be a 2 piece type? A single piece will keep the molding off the body due to the body line sticking out.

Some other pictures suggest it should be installed beneath the body line.

Perhaps someone has a template for them?

Would also appreciate some templates for the GTA emblems but it seems like asking for gold.

PS. car is an 88 GTA.

Re: Body side molding placement

From what I have seen, there are two strips of adhesive tape that straddle the centerline- one above it, one below, so that the moulding sits astride the said centerline...

Ok infact from what I could deduce, the previous tape is split in two pieces according to the residue. So it definitely has to be placed in the middle.

Thanks mate

my car has those moldings right in the middle of the body line. The pieces on the quarter and the fender are also in the middle, those are the pieces with the "tis" on them.

Great thanks alot for confirming it. Still unsure if I want to install them or not but will definitely give them a try and see how they look.

I think it looks "naked" without it...kinda like how newer cars look since most don't have mouldings anymore..i like it iwht nad without in certain aspects, .but they do help prevent door dings and what not.
