Rust Repair on Body (Front Wheel Wells)

Has anybody done any DYI work to restore or fix rust holes in front wheel wells on an 89 Camaro RS? I know it shouldn't really matter what car you are working on but I am curious to know what others have done to patch rusted out wheel wells to restore them before starting a suspension rebuild.

Thanks in advance!

If you have rust holes then you will need to cut out the rust until you get to good solid metal and then weld in new metal. I don't think anyone reproduces the metal so junkyard or just use flat metal. There isn't really a front wheel well though, you have the strut tower structure, a plastic inner finder and a metal outer fender. The outer fenders are reproduced but a good junkyard part will fit better. Any remaining surface rust grind off as much as you can, coat with a good rust converter, sand off the residue, clean and coat with a good self etching primer and paint. You can use truck liner or under coat to finish it off also if you will be driving it in the salt.

Unless you have an attachment to the car though you can go to the south and find a 89-92 Camaro for $1500 with no rust, take all the good parts off your car and put them on that car. Unless you just want to learn to weld.
