Re: t tops

They can be stripped/wetsanded/buffed, but it's an extremely tedious process, and they're still very prone to scratches when they're done.

Best bet is to just get a pair of used glass ones, they fit right in as long as they're from a 1989-92 car. You can use an earlier style t-top too, but you'll have to change the pins out to the larger ones that were used on the 1989-92 cars.

Re: t tops

Was just reading the other day that GM's Lexan warranty was to replace them with glass tops. Of course, not everything you read on the internet is gospel. If you are not driving it much, and your intention is a correct restoration, then maybe it would be worth your time to restore.

Re: t tops

With the correct equipment, it's not hard at all to restore them to optical clarity. Any deep scratches and pits can be filled, and when the are finished, they will look better than new.
It does take some time to do it correctly.

Re: t tops

I have been wondering if I could restore a set I have, too. They're in a 1991 RS parts car and crazed really, really bad. I might try to mess with them and see what I can do. I'm not out a thing if I cant save them
