1983 Z28 ground effect and panel fit/alignment

My car was wrecked and repaired previous to me around 15 years ago. I was wondering if the ground effect was installed correctly. The effect sticks out about a 1/2 inch past bottom of nose and it seems that the 1/2 inch it’s sticking out could be the reason I have the gap on the fender in front of wheels. And the bottom 1/2 of door sticks out about 1/4-3/8 past fender but lines up perfect with rear quarter panel. Any info is appreciated.

I worked on them new, that gap isn't uncommon.

The early gfx's are like that.Thats was one of my pet peeves with my 84, you could see the bottom of the rocker below the gfx.

It looks like there may be enough adjustment in the oversized bolt holes that the gfx can be moved back some. The photos indicate fasteners are installed in farthest forward position of the holes.

If the factory clips have embedded into the urethane, then you can remove those clips and convert to bolts and fender washers.

You are likely to be limited by the rearward stud molded into the gfx. Be careful not to break it off. But if you do you can fabricate and bond a new stud where it fits best.

After looking at my car I think you are close to a best fit location.
