What can I do for ducktails on a convertible

Alright so about a year ago my father gave me his 91 z28 convertible Camaro as a gift for graduating. He’s saved it for a good while and it only has about 46,000 miles on it. I’ve driven that car everyday since I got it, even just for the smallest reason, and I’ve completely fallen in love with it. And since I’ve had it for a while I decided that she deserves a good makeover. Currently she’s in the shop getting painted but I was wondering if I could add a duck tail to it, I was looking into a extreme dimensions one and I really liked but thinking it over I came to problem that it won’t fit because of the convertibles current factory tail. I thought that maybe I could ask them to cut the of the stock 3 piece spoiler so I could just place the new one on but I thought that you guys would probably know something that would work better. Any help is appreciated.

P.S I’m still pretty incompetent when it comes to cars but I’m trying to learn so go easy on me

It's not a bad idea.... I don't recall if the factory trim pieces are fiberglass, or not. If they are, and the extreme dimensions piece is also fiberglass, then it could be done by a good bodyman. Auto body workers are some pretty creative people. I would go to your body shop tomorrow and talk to the guy or gal working on your car and ask him or her what they think. You better do it before they spray your car, though, or it will cost you a lot extra. I think it would look good. There are a few members on here that have made a '91-'92 high rise spoiler work on a 'vert. Good luck, and make sure you post lot's of pictures of your car. Also don't forget today is father's day, so thank him for the car, and everything else he does for you, out of love for his son.

Alright I’ll make sure to talk to the guy next time I get a chance.

I don’t have that many pictures but I have a couple from when I dropped it off a week ago

This last one is only from a couple days ago

Thanks! But if you saw the problems with the paint you might change your mind lol

Also I called the guy who’s working on painting the car and he said he’ll gladly try to cut and fit the piece, he’s worked with fiberglass and bondo quite a bit so it won’t be a hassle for him. More updates coming soon!
