Third gen build help
I got a 89’ firebird formula. Hard top 5 speed car all original. I want my car to be a street car. But it will see it’s fair share of track use. Drag racing and road course. My goal is to build the car with 500-700 hp. It’s going to be a long process and it won’t happen overnight yk. I plan on putting a 8 point roll age, Alston inner sfc and umi 2400-R sfc. Lowering springs, Panhard bar betting rear end, traction bars, wonder bar and any other bolt in suspension I can do. And my question is will the cars chassis be able to hold this type of power bc these cars flex so damn much. Will it hurt the car? I want to be pushing the safe zone for the car but I also want the car to be ok. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just don’t want to ruin the car. Thanks everyone for taking a look.

Re: Third gen build help
Weld-in subframe connectors are one of the best things you can add to your car to strengthen it. A cage or roll bar will help too. The wonder bar is good for stopping frame cracking at the steering box.

Take a look at Detroit Speed Inc. They have a lot of knowledge in this area. But, like mentioned above, a set of weld in subframe connectors is a start.

Re: Third gen build help
My '87 had SFCs welded in early on at some point in its life and when the car is up in the air you can tell the body is rigid, like able to balance on three jack stands rigid. Also don't buy cheap jack stands because knowing your IROC can balance on three of them is not something a guy should know... lol!
