Harwood pin on cowl hood

Harwood pin on cowl hood

I recently picked up a Harwood 4" pin on cowl hood that I plan to install with dzus fasteners. However, it has a 90° lip around the whole edge. I planned to trim the lip off the sides just where the dzus fasteners were, but didn't know about the front. I think it would look silly with that big lip on the front, but don't know if I should trim that whole front lip off. I feel I will loose a lot of structural strength by cutting it off. Any thoughts?

Pretty sure those lips are left over for shipping and handling purposes. Final fit and finish you are suppose to remove them. Its been years but i think mine has been trimmed lol

Trust me, you would know if the lip is still on there lol. You can kind of see it running along the whole bottom

YES that lip will need to be trimmed down. pic this one is under 1/4" trimmed from 1". closed and latched.. a credit card with slide into the gap and have a slight drag.all the way across. the sides are trimmed to no more then 1/2 long..this Glastek hood I removed 1/2 from the sides and 3/4 from the front lip. came out looking like GM made it..if GM Had a costom shop

hood out of box.. note side lip. Before trim down to no more then 1/2" long..(some might need to more). front lip was the same.
