This is what happens when someone jacks up a camaro wrong

Purchase a 1990 camaro Rs convertible, car is clean and rust free. Stock tbi 305 700r4.

I saw this issue when I purchased the car and it made me cringe as to the stupidity of people. I can only assume that the previous owner tried jacking the front of the car by jacking under the front clip/radiator framing. Needless to say, the framing pushed up probably a couple inches. Here is my little project of repairing the metal and getting it back to straight and strong.

This is the bent portion cut out.

Not perfect, but pretty damn close from how bent it was.

That’s a nice job. I think it’s tempting on these cars since they’re so low - I can’t get a floor (trolley) jack underneath mine when coming in from the side without taking the saddle off.

Nice job fixing that mess!
Where did you get that new piece to weld in? Was that cut from another car or can you buy that piece somewhere?

A nice, low profile 2.5-3 ton floor jack is a must for these cars at stock height, even more so when you're lowered.

Battmann,

That is the same piece, I cut out the original one and straightened it out on my work bench with some “gentle massaging” and heat. Took me a few hours to get it straight and then I welded it back in.
