After many years of the original paint peeling and fading of the original 32-yo paint I am getting my 88 IROC-Z Convertible painted (owned it going on 17 years). Mechanically it is sound since I rebuilt the engine years ago and suspension has been completely gone through so now time for paint and re-doing the interior too. Dropped it off for paint a couple days ago and will get it back in early Feb time frame, then will spend some in the Spring and summer putting everything back together. You all know some of the contortions and the endless up and down it takes to get to some of those bolts and screws, thankfully did not shear off any during dismantling-yaaay! Will keep you all posted
Don't see thirdgens as often as I used to. Always get a thumbs up when I am out and about. So many folks have thirdgen stories they tell me. Convertible thirdgens are rarely seen at all. The Convertibles really look good, sleek even today which means it was a good design 30 plus years ago. I was never really a thirdgen guy but the price was too goo to pass up ($900 in 04) and now I cannot see this ever leaving the family. Our daughter gets this numbers matching classic.
