1992 Camaro hatch pull down motor
So I have been searching with no luck. I’ve learned that ‘92 is different than earlier latch mechanisms. Like many other, mine does not work. I pulled entire latch out and removed the motor. I found that the motor brushes had crumbled. Where can I find the motor brushes only? ……or do I have to get some for another application and sand/grind them down. I found a source for the whole motor for $200 with core exchange but if I can find the brushes I can fix this for a few bucks. What has everyone else done on 91&92 “pull down” motors? Thanks

Years ago, I took a BMW Z4 E85 power window assembly out of the trash at my workplace. The brushes from the window motor were still good and were the same size as the brushes in the 3rd gen pulldown unit from my 92 bird. Worked like a charm.

Cadillac and some others used the same pull down motors.
You should also search Caddy forums for parts or help.

There are companies that specialize in electric motor brushes. Here's one: https://store.advancecarbon.com/carbon-brush
Google is your friend here. If you have enough left of your old brushes to get a measurement, you should be able to buy replacements for only a few bucks. I found some last year for the Delco heater fan motor in a 1959 Studebaker truck. Had to grind 1/4" off each one, and then fit perfectly.
