Base to Trans Am tail light conversion

Hi everyone. My 87 base Firebird came with a spare set of Trans Am lights. I would love to do the conversion while I have some free time in the next couple weeks but I do not really know where to start. Any advice would be appreciated.

I wouldn't think you need anything special, just plug the backup bulbs and the three t/s,stop,running lights into the proper locations

Re: Base to Trans Am tail light conversion

There's a write up on how to do it. Try using the search, and it should come up. A guy on here named Vader had all the info, which helped me to do mine.

The base lights use a separate bulb for turn signals, while the T/A lights use the brake lights as brake, signal and parking lights

Well, I found it. It was an old forum called Austin Third Gen. Guy who posted it, is on this site also - BigBabyLou

Here's the link to the page, with the instructions to have it function just like a Trans Am. I did it 8 years ago, still works fine.
