Paint stripping recommendations

Hey there!

I've begun stripping parts and panels my '88 Firebird in earnest and am beginning to think about stripping paint from the plastic parts to prep them for the future.

I'm completely unfamiliar with stripping paint from plastic, so I'm wondering is there anything any of you found to work for the plastics of a 3rd gen? The existing paint on the car was a terrible silver job done over top of the factory red. The normally black inserts on the front and rear bumper are also both painted over with this grey.

I realize that the underlying plastic may be dyed a certain color, which is fine. I just wish to get all other layers off and start from as clean a slate as possible without damaging anything to the point of replacing. Thank you!

Someone will chime in im sure but be careful when you handle those.......those inserts can crumble to dust if they are old / have lots of uv time.

Understandable, just not sure what it has for UV time as it's been painted for at least a couple years. Doesn't even have 100K miles on the car, so hopefully not too much.
