Hatch isn’t working right

I just replaced my latch motor and got everything hooked up and put back. When I tried to shut the hatch my hatch hook started hitting the back of the car like the hinges weren’t in the right position or something. I have no clue why it’s doing this but it seems like it had been a problem for it’s one previous owner since my back panel is broken in the middle thin strip on the top. Any ideas?

Re: Hatch isn’t working right

Wonder if the car was rear-ended - pushing the back of the hatch area and causing this problem. Happened to a buddy of mine once; bought the car with a non-working hatch motor and when he replaced the motor it wouldn't line up the the hook,...... after inspecting the back of the car we found where it had been hit. Easy to hide damage in this area,... just install new taillights !

Got the hatch to latch finally had to take the hatch shocks off I’m thinking something is wrong with the hinges they look slightly bent I know the car has never been in an accident but I’m going to order some new hinges and see if that helps.
