1992 LT1 Camaro RS build so far after paint(OER,....) PIC HEAVY
I have finally got the car back from paint and body and have been enjoying it for the past week. The car started out as a bone stock RS with the LO3. There is a long story about this car and I made a video about it on YT so if youre interested in that here is the link. Warning: its a long video.
word of caution. I recommend not buying the OER ground effects because they came ROUGH. They don't fit great. Looking back, I should have got used parts.
Front bumper, both rocker panels, lower front lip, all OER and the hood is fiberglass (has sustained damage, but I didnt want to buy another hood.)
I bought this car over 7 years ago and it has been a slow process to get it where it has gotten today.. I intended this car to be a fun boosted cruiser/daily/pump gas street driven car with the occasional track visit. This car has a rebuilt LT1 5.7 bored .030" over. Balanced rotating assembly, forged H beam rods, forged Speed Pro L2441F-030 pistons, light port matched aluminum LT1 heads. The crank is a stock cast as my power goals were not to exceed 500-600 HP. GMPP LT1 intake, Comp Ultra Pro-Magnum roller rockers, Trickflow hardened pushrods, ARP main studs, ARP head bolts, ARP 7/16 rocker studs, Bullet racing VS 2700 valve springs, Demos Cams camshaft (224/230@ .050", .544 lift 110 LSA), Crower +.050" keepers, Alex's parts VSR-100-FT flat top retainers. I machined the valve spring seats .025" as well. The valve train parts were used to achieve the 1.800" spring height for the springs. The balancer used I believe was the Assault Racing ARD 8000170. The oil pan was modified to increase the oil capacity to 6+ qts for the turbo. Hedman long tube headers. HEI summit distributor, Summit 600 CFM carb.
The power steering reservoir was sourced from a fourth gen as you can't use the stock pump/pulley on a third gen for this swap. The power steering hose is a 90's impala/caprice hose. Radiator hoses- 92 Corvette lower and 95 Camaro upper.
Fuel pump is a Walbro GSS352G3 350 LPH. Aeromotive 13301 adjustable fuel pressure regulator. The return fuel line was replaced with a larger diameter to accommodate the increased fuel volume. Transmission is a built 700R4 with a 5 pinion planetary, Alto Red clutches , etc. Basically everything that comes in the Monster Transmission "SS Mega" rebuild kit. Bowler Transmission Tru-Shift TV cable bracket & linkage setup. Yank 2800 stall. TCI 399174 flexplate (i believe that is the right part #). Aluminum driveshaft. Rear end is a stock gm 10 bolt but has a 4th gen auburn LSD and 3.73 gears.
UMI clamshells, UMI weld in subframe connectors, new KYB front and rear shocks, new front and rear brake shoes, pads, and rotors. Car ran 13.3 with this configuration. on 87 Octane shifting too early at around 4k at WOT. At this time the car had self aligning rockers (shown in the video) 3/8s studs and trickflow springs.... I upgraded to the NSA comp cams rockers and other hardware later on.
Car now has full Hooker shortys and Y and the Aerochamber catback as well as wideband O2. Also the Transmission Governor has been tuned (by me) to shift at WOT at around 5700 RPM. Also now has UMI adjustable torque arm. Should easily hit 12's but the track shut down as of 2022. Not bad for low compression. Getting new wheels soon (Jegs SSR). Still have not installed forced induction. The turbo is still sitting on my tool box.
