Bumperette material & care
This might be a silly question but can't seem to find the answer when searching - does anyone know what actual material the 85-90 firebird/formula bumperettes are made of? are they some kind of synthetic rubber or plastic/vinyl? Reason I am asking is just looking for the best way to take care of them/prevent drying and cracking. I was thinking normal black trim protection products, but was wondering if something like mink oil might be better. Any input is appreciated!

Just molded black vinyl/abs/plastic, something like that. They fade, crack, dent, bend, break, etc. Their shape is convex on the outside, concave on the inside, not padded and not rubber. Your favorite exterior trim treatment product should be fine.
I thought I had pictures on my laptop of a pair I took out of a spare bumper cover and sent to a member here, but I'm not finding them, so maybe they're on my phone. When I find them I'll post them, if someone hasn't posted pictures by then.

Bumperette ? Are you talking about the front and rear , (rubber) bumper cover? AKA Facia. It is likely has "PUR" molded into the back side of it, in difficult to see raised letters. PUR is Polyurethane.

Look for the letters molded in the Bumperettes. .Then try googling them and the word plastic and or rubber.

I actually think that is two different formulas in the pictures… one has a pin stripe, the other doesn’t. Thread
