Bumper Cover Repaint Prep - 92 RS?
What is the best approach to prepping a bumper cover for repaint from light blue to black? Sanding or paint stripper followed by sanding?

The paint looks pretty good. It has a couple of small scrapes right in the middle but they basically just scraped the paint off. There are a few small relatively shallow spider cracks in the area of the headlight openings.

Just looked at it again and I think I can just sand it. Thinking I should sand it, use a 2K fill primer with flex agent, and then finish paint. Are these normally painted with base/clear or just single stage? If base/clear I am assuming a flex agent to both the base and the clear?

Re: Bumper Cover Repaint Prep - 92 RS?
Going to paint the bumper cover on Wednesday or Thursday. Does a 2k primer with flex agent sound right after sanding or as described above go directly to finish coat? Also, I have single stage Omni 9300 for my engine bay. Should I use the Omni single stage for the bumper cover or go to a Base/Clear on the bumper cover. Should the finish coat use a flex agent with either the Omni or B/C?
Thanks...
Thanks...

Re: Bumper Cover Repaint Prep - 92 RS?
Didn't get to paint the bumper cover as planned yet. I also need to do my rear bumper cover but came up with another question while thinking about doing both of these. Is adhesion promoter needed if painting over sanded old paint since the new paint isn't going direct to the bumper cover urethane? Also, is flex agent needed for the primer and the base and clear?

Thanks for your thought but it is not helpful. Not all of us can afford a professional paint job. I have all the equipment to paint and have successful projects in the past. I was just looking for thoughts on other's experiences on adhesion promoter over sanded older paint.

I did the front and rear covers myself and I painted over the existing... nothing added.
I sanded everything down with 400... until any spider crack would not catch my fingernail. Then I repaired a few spots with a urethane repair ... then sanded 400... painted over with that.... was really happy with the results... took a little wet sanding and all was set to go. Used Poly-flex for the repair and Nason Ful- thane for the paint.
