Front bumper cover is wrong?

I have a 92 camaro. The front bumper cover needed to be replaced. I believe its a 91 IROC front bumper cover. I thought it would fit, but when i placed it on. Theres a gap between the hood and cover. Was it placed on incorrectly? Or does RS and IROC have something different about their bumper covers?

Thanks.

Re: Front bumper cover is wrong?

It should fit the same. Sounds like somethings not adjusted right.

There wasn't a 91 IROC-Z. The front bumper cover was the same from 1985-1992.

Heres a picture of it. Body lines up on the side. Just not the top between hood and grille.

Re: Front bumper cover is wrong?

do you have the big metal bumper support behind it, with all the plastic still attatched? Just looking at your headlights, it looks like it's sagging badly in the middle. Seems like you are missing the support there to me. IDK.

i agree, make sure you bolted everything up correctly under the air intake section of the bumper cover, if it still sags, try pulling up on it while tightening the bolts up.

Re: Front bumper cover is wrong?

Ok thanks guys. I have a support beam behind it, I'm going to put it on a lift this weekend and check it out again. I'll let yas know what I find. Hoping its something simple.

Re: Front bumper cover is wrong?

Mine did the same thing. Its the header panel(dark grey fiberglass) behind the cover and headlights that attaches to the radiator support. The vertical supports on both sides of the radiator(in front) and the center support where the hood latch is needs to be loosened. Once they are loose, have a friend pull up on the header assembly and retighten. You can do this until you have it were you need it. Either when a bumper has been replaced or sometimes over time, this will slowerly loosen and sag causing the gap in front.

Re: Front bumper cover is wrong?

i assembled mine off the car, it was much easier. the thing is, you have to have all the parts, and the bracketry has to be straight in order for it to go back on squarely .boy it sure is nice when youre done though!!!!!

Re: Front bumper cover is wrong?

Mine looked the same way after someone backed into my car in a parking lot.
It is an 86 IROC, luckily the insurance covered it all, hood straightened and re painted, new factory GM nose cone, aaaand it had a gap a little bigger than yours.

The guy at the Body shop told me he couldn't get it to match up and it was because the frame horns on the front of the car were bent.

They are NOT bent at all and after talking to him and the insurance company they told me they would not cover any more of it.

So it looks like I'll be fixing it myself, not that I'm afraid to get dirty, I already rebuilt the entire motor, but I don't know where to start with this, there are so many weird brackets, and I don't know if they are bent or it's not adjusted right etc.

if anyone could throw up some pictures of there nose clips on the inside just as a reference or anything that would be great.

Good luck to anyone else with this nose cone issue!
