Can someone show me a pic of their original fender liner fasteners? I suspect mine are incorrect because they were removed when the car was repainted, and there's screws in a few places that don't look right.
I'm planning to take them off and repaint them with some bumper/trim paint since they have faded to a grayish color.
thanks. What about the inner ones towards the engine? I have screws in mine that stick out into the engine compartment, and I've actually stabbed my hand on them. Those holes look like they would be too small for those plastic clips.

The inner fasteners are screws into the engine compartment.
they are a rubber cap similar to a vacuum cap - although they have a flat "base" to them. I did a quick google search and could not find anything similar... maybe someone knows of a source or the OEM part number. I'm sure a regular rubber cap would accomplish the same thing - although the flat base style probably does a good job of sealing out moisture
my question is, does the fender liner go on the inside or outside of the fender? My car was repainted before I bought it, and they put it on the outside. I put it back on the inside and took it to a body shop to get the fenders aligned, and they put it back on the outside.
The liner goes over the fender until the 91-2 cars, then the liner has notches on front and rear where liner goes behind fender. Those use U-nuts on liner and 7mm head screw with captured washers
This is the style push pins used on all my 89 up Firebirds
That's what's on my '87. I just didn't know if it came that way or if the body shop did it after the repaint. They are difficult to remove for sure, and pretty much ruined afterwards.
