Trunk gap

Hello everyone!
I can't for the love of god adjust the trunk gap. I tried lowering the latch, but the gap is still there and is pretty noticeable. It was like that since I bought the car. What can I do besides drilling into the body panel and increasing the slot length?

Re: Trunk gap

There should be rubber bumpers at the underside of each end of the hatch panel. Try screwing that bumper in more to get the hatch lower on that side

I think I found another problem. The pull down motor is non functional. Can this cause the hatch to be lifted like that? Also, do you by any chance know if I can source just the hatch lock plastic retainer? Mine is broken and is not holding the lock cylinder in place.

Re: Trunk gap

None of my thirdgens have the pull-down option so i’m not sure.
Try posting some pics of the plastic retainer you’re talking about

Yes. The pull down motor assembly catches the latch high, then "pulls" it down to the final position slowly, thus the name.
I'd start by fixing the pull down mechanism or replace it with a standard latch, then go from there.

Re: Trunk gap

The gap of the fender (quarter panel) to taillight looks like crap too......

Beyond the inoperative pull down motor (which ain't gonna fix the taillight / fender misfit), something else besides the pulldown ain't right (Hit in that area and fixed poorly?)
