Help identify mystery part

Hi Thirdgen community. I'm looking for some help in identifying where this bracket goes. I took the car apart 15 years ago and now that it's going back together, I just don't remember and my photos from the car coming apart don't show it. (Advice for anyone in the future, take twice as many photos as you think you need). Thanks in advance.

Looks like the alternator support bracket that bolts to the head.

Looks similar, but that's not it. The alternator brace and the two braces for the A/C compressor are already installed on the motor.

Gotcha.

No idea then. I've never seen anything like that on my car other than the alternator brace.

Agreed and thank you. I'm sure it will get figured out eventually. There will probably be some other "extra" parts as well.

Re: Help identify mystery part

On a pre-88, it does look similar to the compressor brace; alternator didn't have such a brace. But on an 89 with serpentine, editing this from no, to I doubt such braces would be used, but I don't know for sure, and you've confirmed yours doesn't need one.

It reminds me of a cowl-to-fender brace for the passenger side of the engine bay that I thought only came on Camaros. I snagged one off of a junkyard Camaro many years ago to install on my Formula.

Is it the fender to subframe brace?

Thanks as well.

Re: Help identify mystery part

OK, I think the mystery is solved. Wildcard600, I believe you are correct that it is a fender/nose support. The stamped part number is tough to read since it was powdercoated, but I can make out that it matches the number for the right side fender brace 10182010 that Drew referenced in the other thread you linked.

After all of this, I realized this brace didn't come from my '89 GTA. I swapped the core support during the restoration because mine was damaged from a prior front end collision. The donor core came from a '91 or '92 Firebird and it had a bunch of misc stuff still attached to it. I vaguely remember this one brace being attached (only one though, not both sides). It must have ended up in the box of braces/brackets that went off to the powdercoater. I looked up the part number and GM Parts lists it as for a 91-92 Firebird, so that makes sense.

I also went back and looked at older photos of the engine bay and my car didn't have the strut tower to frame brace, at least in the time I've owned the car (26 years).

Thanks all for your help.
