Hood touches bumper before locking, how do I fix it?
Getting the car painted in a few months so I'm starting to work out all the stuff wrong with the body. Was sitting for 26 years until last summer.
The hood will sit on the bumper before it locks, and I always have to give it an extra push down, bevause the hood always touches the bumper the paint has chipped and rust has formed.
how do I get the hood to lock out before touching the bumper?
Re: Hood touches bumper before locking, how do I fix it?
Ok thanks that did the trick. I think I will replace the latch soon though as it has some play after it locks (If i press it down some more it will still touch the bumper, even though its locked)

There should be two bumpers on the core support to prevent the hood from going down further than it should. Make sure they're there and maybe raise them up if they're all the way down.

As exiled noted above, there'll be two adjustable bumpers on the core support that should allow you to put some positive pressure on the hood latch if you run them up a couple of turns. Here's a picture of the front left one on our race car, for reference.
