I have a 1983 Z28 with the fiberglass hood. I purchased and installed new shocks for the hood and they worked for about a year. Now the hood will drop by itself when it feels like it. Any recommendation for a decent replacement pair of lift supports? I wasn't sure if the ones for the metal hood have a heavier rating and could be used in place???

The ones for the metal hood are too stout and may be an issue. I think I got my last set for the glass hood at O'Reilly's.

What berand did you get?
I use the steel hood strong arm units. It lasted like 15 years for my steel hood. Hood would sag a bit after 10 years and the last 5 were "ok" but it would stil lstay up. I believe they also make a fiberglass strut

I've got the ac Delco fiberglass ones and it's enough to hold up my hardwood fiberglass hood but just barely. But... YMMV because I have ac Delco struts on the hatch of my '87 and they're perfect, the same part number but a year removed for my '89 and they are OP AF.
