Newbie query on spare wheel / tire...

Hi all, have tried to find any previous posts on this, but can't find anything. So here goes (with apologies for UK terminology where I forget) ...

We just bought an 86 305 Trans Am last weekend - for a vehicle in the UK since 88 it's in lovely condition, we are really pleased. But when we checked it out, the trunk floor was locked and we couldn't undo it. Now, unless I'm being stupid, the spare should be stowed in here, so we had to take the risk that it was present and OK.

Well guess what - have got the lock undone. Current contents of the vertical slot along the rear of the trunk floor is a soft vinyl wheel-shaped pouch and a wheel brace (??)

Firstly, am I right to think the spare should be in the bag, mounted vertically under the trunk floor? I believe it is a skinny emergency-only version - does anyone have part numbers? And what other items should I have found under there (jack, tool-kit...?)

Regards
Mark

The spare is located under the pannel on the right(pass) side of the trunk you can use a well I guess you can use a uero or what ever coin you have at your disposal to open the pannel and the spare should be mounted in there with the jack.

Hey, Poncho!

That's what I call service:hail: The screws are not original and were not obvious as a means of removing the right-side panel. But, all is present and correct - thanks man. Can't wait till I get a copy of the glovebox user's manual - tried a US company but they wanted $20 for the book but $20 handling and $42 shipping .

Thanks again,

Mark

No problem man. I have been trying to get a manuel for my 89 gta for about a year now and every time I see them on e-bay they go for like $50 U.S. to $80. Have fun with your new car and welcome to the boards!

This is ever so slightly off-topic, but you could try (if you haven't already) www.helminc.com where I tried. The shipping / handling for local US delivery might be cheaper!
